5 Gift Ideas for Book Lovers

Every single one of us has a bookworm in our lives. If you don’t know one, the chances are that you are one yourself. Unfortunately, giving a book lover a good gift that isn’t a book can be a bit of a challenge because you may not know where to start, or you might not have any ideas that don’t involve books themselves.

Have you been trying to find the perfect gift for a book lover you know, but you’re unsure what to choose? Don’t worry. We’re here to help you find the ideal gift for a book lover. (Spoiler alert: it’s not a book!)

1. Funky Bookends

When thrifting or browsing through an online shopping website, you might have come across a set of funky bookends like the one shown in the image above. However, you may not have known who to buy them from until now. Bookends are the perfect gift for a book lover who doesn’t have enough storage space for all their books. For instance, if they stack their books on an open shelf or at the end of a table, your book-loving friend can use the bookends to prop their books up on either side of the stack. The bookend both add a new design element to your friend’s space, and they help neaten the book pile.

2. A Cloth Tote Bag

Every book lover is guilty of buying more books than they can read, but unfortunately, carrying them to and from the bookstore is an arduous process until now. Buying your bookworm pal a cloth tote bag solves a multitude of problems. Totes are eco-friendly, washable, and easy to store. If your friend uses public transportation often, all they have to do is sling it over their shoulder and their hands are free. Most importantly, they now have a designated bag for their books.

3. A subscription to a monthly book box

I know that we said we weren’t going to recommend books, but we’re going to cheat a little with this loophole; a subscription to a book box isn’t the same as a book! There are several book box subscription options available online, many of whom offer different subscription options. You can choose to send a book box for one, three, or six months, or even a year if you’re feeling generous. Depending on which platform you choose, you might also be able to send bookmarks, coffee, and other goodies along with the book or books that the company sends.

We think that a subscription is a beautiful gift, especially if it’s a surprise.

4. A Kindle Cover

Reading on an e-reader is a bit controversial since many feel that books should be read in their physical form and not on a device. Still, the Kindle can’t be faulted for how easy it is to carry around, and many modern readers are opting for technology.

If your book-loving pal is an active Kindle reader, you can always give them a Kindle cover that matches their personality. The internet is full of different options to choose from, and all you need to do is pick a cover that you think your friend would love the most. The best part is that a Kindle cover is inexpensive, so you can always buy two or three and gift them as a bundle with some coffee powder or tea bags!

5. A Lamp

I’m sure we have all been reprimanded for reading in poor light, or you’ve reprimanded a friend for straining their eyes to finish another chapter. A lovely lamp is a perfect gift to solve this problem! We love lamps because they are so easy to move around in a home, and all you need is a plug point nearby. If your friend is someone who loves to read in bed but hates getting up to switch the light off, they don’t need to anymore. Good quality lamps are readily available online with bulbs. You could also buy a rechargeable lamp to save both yourself and your friend from having to purchase new bulbs every so often.

You love your bookworm friends because they always have good stories to tell and talk about, but shopping for them can be a bit of a nightmare. Thankfully, we’ve put together this concise list to help nudge you in a direction away from books, but we’re staying in the realm of book products! Now that you have an idea of what to get your friend, go out there and make a book lover’s day even brighter.
